Anger Therapy

Anger Management Therapist in Tampa, FL

Anger is a common emotion that can useful when it is channeled in healthy ways. It can motivate you to address and solve interpersonal problems.  When managed correctly and expressed appropriately, anger can be an important emotional feedback process for psychological health. But anger has a downside- perhaps more than any other emotion- it can leave a trail of carnage when it is not expressed in a healthy fashion.

Anger often arises, not due to a present situation. It becomes activated based on hidden associations with past events that recapitulate the present situation.

Anger also easily serves as a mask for other emotions. It can also be a habitual defense against other more threatening emotions of sadness or fear. Therapy helps clients who are experiencing  chronic anger  to find ways to explore its causes.  Mindful practices that balance the negative aspects of anger will help you decrease the likelihood that anger will be unmanageable.

Research shows that emotional outbursts can feel good in the short term. But venting anger can become a habit that results in an endless recycling of anger which causes more anger, not less. Moreover, the way others react to anger can fuel your stress, leading to feelings of shame and possible greater social isolation.

Individuals who experience chronic anger tend to be more susceptible to chronic health conditions. Anger therapy empowers you to discover what lies at the root of your aggravation and temper.  By developing mindful emotional regulation strategies, you will identify your anger triggers and learn healthy ways to express negative emotions.

Could not have survived this process without Dr. Prange

Navigating through the divorce process is emotionally draining and mentally exhausting. Having Dr. Prange's help managing the stress for myself has been life saving and life changing. He's always been accommodating to my schedule when I needed to see him. He not only understands the psychological toll divorce has on the human spirit but also the long term impact it has on our children. I'm a better parent thanks to his guidance.
